SKY Castle|Daechi-dong Hagwon Street — The Street the Castle Was Built On

After class the sidewalks under Daechi Station fill with students who already have another class.

SKY Castle never films a full episode on this block, and it does not need to. Every mother in the gated villas is buying a seat on this street. The acronym in the title is three universities. The engine is Daechi-dong.

Walk out of Line 3, exit 7, and the buildings go vertical with hagwon signs. Eunma Apartment intersection is the hinge. From here to Hanti Station the upper floors sell CSAT math, essay, special-purpose high school prep. The ground floors sell kimbap, stationery, and coffee for the parents who wait.

The drama made Kim Joo-young a private coordinator who could outrun a street like this. The street is still here and she is not required. A Tuesday evening in term time does the same work the script did: fluorescent windows, rolling backpacks, a mother checking a timetable on her phone.

Do not look for a plaque. The pilgrimage is the density. Count the academy boards on one facade and you understand why Han Seo-jin treated a coordinator as infrastructure.

SKY Castle premiered on JTBC on 23 November 2018. Daechi was already the country's private-education center before the first episode. The series only said the quiet part with better lighting.
