Biography | Ola Källenius — The Dufourstrasse Campus of the CEMS Year

People treat a Mercedes chairman's education as a single Stockholm line.

The company biography splits it across two campuses.

From 1989 to 1993 Källenius studied at the Stockholm School of Economics.

In those years he also completed the CEMS programme at the University of St. Gallen.

The official Mercedes text records the Swiss piece as a master of international management.

CEMS, then the Community of European Management Schools, sent students between member campuses for a term of joint work.

St. Gallen's main building sits at Dufourstrasse 50, on the Rosenberg above the city.

The house and the aula went up in the 1960s on a hillside campus that a visitor still reaches by bus 5 or 9 from the station.

The sculptures in front of the main steps were already there in the 1990s, when the archive photograph used here was taken.

Källenius joined Daimler-Benz in Stuttgart the same year the St. Gallen term closed, 1993, as a trainee on the international management associate programme.

The pin is the public university building, not a later executive campus and not a private lodging.

Källenius is a living executive.

This memory marks a dated course at a campus a stranger can walk.

It does not mark a present office or a private residence.
