People treat Broadcom as a company that was always a Delaware issuer with a California campus.

On the morning of 2 November 2017 the legal home was still Singapore, and Tan stood in the Oval Office to say that would change.

He stood with President Donald Trump. The announcement was that Broadcom Limited would domicile in the United States.

News reports that day recorded him telling the room the shift would pull about 20 billion dollars of revenue onto the U.S. books. The two men did not name a street for the new headquarters while the cameras ran.

San Jose was already the American co-headquarters. The 2016 Avago-Broadcom combination had listed both Singapore and San Jose.

What changed in this room was the legal address, not the first laboratory.

The timing was not neutral. Broadcom was then waiting on CFIUS over the Brocade purchase and was weeks from launching a bid for Qualcomm.

A Singapore parent made that review harder.

The Oval Office sits in the West Wing at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW. Visitors do not walk in.

The North Portico on Lafayette Square is the public face of the same building.

The domicile later settled in Delaware, with operating headquarters in California. The morning that belongs at this pin is the public transfer of the parent from Singapore paper to U.S. paper.
