My Sassy Girl|Hwaseong Haenggung Bongsudang — The Hall Where Gyeon-woo Ran From a Dream

Bongsudang is the audience hall at the back of Hwaseong Haenggung, the temporary palace King Jeongjo built against Paldalsan. The Suwon Cultural Foundation recorded that SBS filmed My Sassy Girl here in 2016 and 2017. Episode 8 used this floor: Gyeon-woo, stuffed with the wrong books, bolts when Princess Hye-myeong walks in on the dream.

The building was finished in 1789 and named for a prayer that Jeongjo's mother would live long. Japanese occupation took the original down. The reconstruction opened in 1997. The hanging board still reads the wish.

Buy the Haenggung ticket at the east gate and walk the axis through Sinpungnu and Jungyangmun until the courtyard opens on this timber hall. Closed days follow the fortress calendar; mornings before the school groups are the hour when the painted brackets look the way the camera found them.

Stand on the stones in front of the hall. The drama needed a Joseon room that still existed. This is the one the city can name.
