Biography|Carol Tome — The Denver Business School That Turned Her Toward Finance

The plan after Laramie was graduate work in finance, then a desk at her father's bank in Jackson.

She enrolled at the University of Denver and took an MBA with a finance concentration, finishing in 1981.

Daniels College of Business, founded in 1908, sits at 2101 South University Boulevard on DU's main campus. It is among the oldest business schools in the country and has held AACSB accreditation since 1923.

A 2018 University of Denver news feature on her commencement address records the MBA class as 1981 and ties the choice of Denver to a speaker she had heard years earlier at her Jackson Hole high-school graduation: Maurice Mitchell, then DU's chancellor.

The same article records the phone call that closed the family-bank path. Her father was selling the Jackson State Bank.

What followed was a commercial-lending job at United Bank of Denver, later folded into Wells Fargo, then treasury posts at Johns-Manville and Riverwood International.

The pin here is the school, not those later offices. The offices moved and merged. Daniels is still on University Boulevard.
