Biography | Bob Swan — The Buffalo Management Degree Taken Before General Electric

Intel's later press kit compresses the education line to two universities.

The bachelor's degree is a Buffalo degree.

Swan earned a B.S. in business administration from the University at Buffalo School of Management in 1983.

The school now occupies Jacobs Management Center and the adjoining Alfiero Center on the North Campus in Amherst.

Alfiero opened in the 2000s as a privately funded student building. The 1983 degree predates the glass atrium.

UB's alumni magazine recorded the class year as BS '83 and noted that he played rugby as an undergraduate.

He stayed in the SUNY system for an M.B.A. at Binghamton University in 1985.

He joined General Electric the same year and spent fifteen years in senior finance posts, including divisional CFO roles at GE Transportation Systems, GE Healthcare Europe, and GE Lighting.

The GE years are what the later CFO résumés actually rest on.
