100 Days My Prince | Naganeupseong Folk Village — The Walls That Held Songjuhyeon

The first thing the wall does is cut the modern road off. Then the thatch takes over.

Naganeupseong sits in Nagan-myeon, west of downtown Suncheon, a Joseon county seat that still has its stone circuit, its three gates, and people living inside the houses. Historic Site No. 302. The fortress went up in 1397 against wokou raids and was later rebuilt in stone. What you walk now is not a replica village poured for cameras. It is the administrative town that never fully emptied.

100 Days My Prince needed a place that could pass for Songjuhyeon, the invented Chungcheong county where Crown Prince Lee Yul woke without a name and Hong Shim was forced to marry him so the drought would lift. The production put that marriage on these lanes. Won-deuk chopping wood badly. Hong Shim correcting him in public. Neighbors watching from courtyards that still have smoke holes and clay walls.

You enter through the south or east gate and the geometry is Joseon: a wide spine road, government buildings near the center, private houses packed toward the rampart. Climb the wall. The mountains sit close enough that the plain feels like a bowl. That bowl is why the drama could shoot a whole commoner life here without a skyline leaking in.

The village keeps a small admission and a calendar of festivals. Residents still farm the plots beyond the gates. Stand on the southeast stretch of wall at mid-morning and the roofs below look exactly as the camera used them: a closed world, one county wide, with a hundred days inside it.
