When Life Gives You Tangerines | Seongeup Folk Village — Stone Alleys That Still Keep House

The village in the drama is a set in Andong. The village you can still sleep in is here.

Seongeup Folk Village sits in Pyoseon-myeon, Seogwipo, at 33.3867 north, a walled town that has been lived in since the fifteenth century. When Life Gives You Tangerines needed stone walls, thatched roofs, and short olle alleys that look like Jeju before the hotels. Seongeup already had them. The production used the real streets for scenes that had to feel older than a soundstage.

The whole village is a National Folklore Cultural Heritage. People still live in the houses. Workshops and rooms to eat sit inside the walls. Two old trees in the center are Natural Monuments. You do not buy a ticket to a replica. You walk a street that kept its plan through fire, occupation, and the 1948 uprising.

The drama's Dodong-ri was invented so the cameras could control the tide of extras. Seongeup is what the invention was copying. Leave by the south gate and the modern road starts immediately. The stone does not follow you.
