Mr. Bean | The Queen’s Hotel — Room 426 Escapes into the Corridor

Mr. Bean checks in with a suitcase, a rival guest, and no intention of accepting a hotel room as it is. He drills through a wall for a bathroom, races his neighbour through dinner, trusts the oysters, and eventually reaches the lobby without his clothes. “Mr. Bean in Room 426” was filmed at the Queen’s Hotel in Southsea, allowing its reception rooms, stairs, corridors, and seaside formality to contain an entire episode of escalating damage. The hotel is still operating at the edge of Southsea Common, its red brick and pale terracotta facing the same open horizon. It is a working hotel, so this is a place to enter as a guest, diner, or event visitor rather than a set to inspect. From the pavement, look up across the ordered rows of windows; somewhere behind that elegant grid, Bean’s improvised bathroom still feels dangerously possible.
