Mr. Bean | Friar’s Bay — The Long Descent to One Tiny Secret

Mr. Bean climbs down the cliff steps carrying everything needed for a swim, then discovers one obstacle he cannot outmanoeuvre: a man in a deckchair watching the beach. On the shingle at Friar’s Bay, he pulls his swimming trunks over his trousers and extracts the trousers one leg at a time, performing a private changing-room routine in full public view. Only when the labour is complete does the stranger stand, unfold a white cane, and reveal that none of it was necessary. Peacehaven’s pale cliffs and steep access turn the sketch into a physical journey; Bean has come too far down to retreat, so ingenuity must replace common sense. The bay remains part of the public Sussex coast, but tides and cliff conditions deserve respect.
