第12話の戦いが終わると、エンディング「ファイトソング」はデンジ、パワー、アキを目白通りへ連れ戻す。向山町のバス停や歩道橋のそばを三人が歩く。勝利を祝う英雄の行進ではない。買い物袋を提げ、車の列を横目に、同じ家へ帰る人たちの歩幅だ。
ここでは道路そのものが物語になる。途切れない交通、ガードレール、駐車場の案内、バスを待つための狭い歩道。派手な悪魔も公安の制服もない。その代わり、アニメが12話かけて積み上げた共同生活が、練馬の夕方にそっと置かれている。デンジが最初に欲しがった「普通」は、豪華な食卓ではなく、騒がしい二人と同じ方向へ歩けることだった。
向山町の停留所で一台バスを見送ってから、練馬駅の方へ歩いてみてほしい。三人の時間が永遠ではないと知っているからこそ、信号が青に変わって同時に歩き出す、その数秒がこの場所のいちばん重い風景になる。
