CPBL | The Lions Move Into a Ballpark They Do Not Own (Asia-Pacific Main Stadium, Tainan)

統一獅 played their first home game at the 亞太成棒主球場 on 29 March 2026, and the infield sold out in advance. More than 21,000 tickets went before the gates opened. The club had 48 home dates scheduled here, in a ballpark holding 25,000 — 15,000 in the infield, 10,000 in the outfield — which makes it the largest open-air ballpark in Taiwan, behind only the dome in Taipei.

They did not come here by choice. Typhoon 丹娜絲 tore the roof off 台南市立棒球場 in July 2025 and the repair was assessed at over a year, so the Lions left the ground they had held since 1999 and rented this one from the city.

The complex had been fourteen years in the making. The then mayor 賴清德 announced it in 2012; an international design competition was won in 2016 by 劉培森建築師事務所 with 竹中工務店 of Japan; the first phase went out to tender five times before a contractor took it, and broke ground in 2018. What stands now in 安南區 is seven fields — senior and junior main and secondary grounds, practice infields, and the largest indoor hitting and pitching facility in the country.

Renting is not adopting, and the club has said so. Every other CPBL home ground is held on an operate-transfer arrangement; the Lions train at the old ballpark and only get the keys here on match days. The manager and the captain both said the place needed to feel more like home.

Shuttle buses run from 和順轉運站, 永康車站 and 高鐵台南站 on game days, ticket required.
