Biography | Steve Huffman — The NYSE Morning RDDT Opened at 47

On 21 March 2024 the site that began as a Y Combinator summer project opened on the New York Stock Exchange.

Shares priced the night before at 34 dollars.

They opened at 47 and closed at 50.44, a 48 percent first-day gain.

The ticker is RDDT.

Huffman stood on the exchange floor that day.

The New York Times, AP, and Reuters all placed him there for the debut.

The company and selling stockholders offered 22 million Class A shares.

The New York Stock Exchange building at 11 Wall Street, with its Broad Street colonnade, is the pin.

A visitor can stand at the intersection of Wall and Broad and see the same facade.

Reddit was then about nineteen years from the Cambridge launch.

Huffman had sold the company once already, in 2006, and come back as chief executive in 2015.

The listing put the firm under public-company reporting.

The mascot Snoo appeared at the opening bell in press photographs from the floor.
