People treat alumni awards as banquet filler.
This one was the first public honor the college put on a resume that was still being written.
On 16 October 2009, during Homecoming, Linfield named Michelle Johnston Holthaus the Outstanding Young Alumna.
The college paper announced the award two days earlier.
It listed a 1995 finance degree and a 1996 start at Intel in Hillsboro.
By then she was general manager of the Channel Platforms and Strategy Division.
The paper also recorded a 2004 record year for the boxed desktop and server line she had run, and an Intel Achievement Award for a chip take-back program.
The official honoree roll still carries the name, with a spelling slip: Michelle (Jonston) Holthaus '95.
The pin is again Pioneer Hall, the brick landmark at the center of the McMinnville campus.

She was living in Portland at the time.
That house is not on the map.
Homecoming that year gathered awards around the same quad where she had finished the finance degree fourteen years earlier.
