Anders Malte Danielsson was born on 15 August 1966.

The public record of his working life starts on this brick slope above Östra station, not on a jobsite.

KTH Royal Institute of Technology's main building, designed by Erik Lallerstedt and opened on 19 October 1917, is still the face of the Valhallavägen campus.

Danielsson read civil engineering here in heating and ventilation, the discipline that keeps a building's air and pipes honest.

A 2012 Norwegian trade profile named the degree as a Master of Science in Heating and ventilation and put the graduation in 1991.

That matches the group's own timeline: he joined Skanska the same year as an installation coordinator.

The official biography still lists the KTH degree first, before the Harvard Advanced Management Program and before every later title.

In those years a Swedish civilingenjör program ran four and a half years, not the five-year Bologna structure that arrived in 2007.

Seventeen years after he left this courtyard he was president of Skanska Sweden.

Twenty-seven years after, he was president and chief executive of the whole group.

The campus has been rebuilt in pieces since 1991.

Lecture halls have moved. Facades have been cleaned.

The 1917 main block remains the place a visitor can stand and see the school that trained the engineer Skanska kept.
