The Last of Us | Downtown Canmore — Jackson Behind the Wall

The gates open and Joel discovers that his brother has not merely survived. Tommy has a home, a wife, electricity, meals, and a community planning for spring. Downtown Canmore becomes Jackson, Wyoming, in “Kin.” Main Street was dressed with snow, livestock, workshops, patrols, and a high log wall, while the surrounding peaks gave the settlement a defensible grandeur no studio backdrop could supply. For Joel, the shock is not that civilization exists. It is that Tommy belongs to it.

Walk 8 Street between Railway Avenue and 7 Avenue, looking west as the mountains close the view. Storefronts and street proportions remain recognizable beneath the series dressing, but the real town is lively and heavily visited. From May through mid-October, the central blocks operate as a pedestrian-friendly zone; outside that season, use sidewalks and normal crossings. Keep business entrances open, ask before photographing inside shops, and remember that Jackson’s barricades were temporary scenery. End near the middle of the street and face the peaks. The walls are gone, yet the location still explains why this is the first place in the series that feels capable of lasting.
