Full House|The Bund — Where Episode One Put Ji-eun on the River

The first episode of Full House does not open on the Incheon house. It puts Han Ji-eun on the Huangpu. Wikipedia and the older tourism notes agree: the first episode was shot in Shanghai near the Bund.

The promenade is the same public walk it was in 2004. Stone buildings on one bank, the river in the middle, Pudong growing on the other side. Crews used the waterfront the way every visitor uses it, as a straight line with no ticket and no gate. Ji-eun is supposed to be far from home. The Bund does that work without a set. It is already a city that looks like elsewhere.

You walk the same railing. Ferries cut the river. The Customs House clock still faces the water. Nothing here pretends to be Sugi Beach. That is the point of the opening. The series starts in a foreign city so that the wooden house on a Korean island can feel like the place you finally get to stay.
