Finance History | 11 Wall Street — BLDR Left Nasdaq for the Preferred Industry Tape

People treat Builders FirstSource as a Dallas lumber-and-truss supplier that always printed on the Big Board.

The 2005 issuer listed on Nasdaq.

On 22 June 2005 the company completed an initial public offering of 12,250,000 shares at 16 dollars each.

Of those shares, 7,500,000 were sold by the company and 4,750,000 by selling stockholders.

A later 10-Q recorded that trading began that day on the Nasdaq National Market under the ticker BLDR.

On 6 July 2021, after the merger with BMC, Builders FirstSource said it would transfer the listing to the New York Stock Exchange and keep the same ticker.

Intercontinental Exchange announced that trading as an NYSE name began at the open on 19 July 2021.

The mechanism is a venue change, not a new issue. No shares were sold to list.

The company moved an existing Nasdaq line onto the exchange it called the preferred tape for building-products peers.

The pin is the Broad Street facade of the Exchange, where BLDR first printed as a New York name. Interior trading is not visitable from the sidewalk.
