True Beauty|Bukchon-ro 11-gil — The Climb Between the Tile Roofs

The lane climbs between two walls of hanok. Tile eaves almost close over the asphalt. At the top a larger roof shuts the view like a lid.
True Beauty used these Bukchon slopes for the walks that were not school and not home — Ju-kyung and Su-ho moving through a neighborhood that still calls itself a village inside Jongno-gu. The cameras liked the rise because it gave them a frame: two people, a hill, and no skyline yet.
The street is public. People live behind the doors. Keep your voice down and do not stop mid-slope for a photograph when someone is coming down with groceries. The drama made the climb look empty. It is not.
