Crash Landing on You | Sigriswil Panorama Bridge — A Photograph Instead of a Fall

The deck is perforated steel. Through the holes the Gummischlucht drops a hundred and eighty metres. Four pylons lean inward. On a clear day Lake Thun sits to the west and the Bernese Oberland holds the rest of the sky.

In episode 4 of Crash Landing on You, Yoon Se-ri walks this span with a decision already made. Ri Jeong-hyeok does not know her name. He only sees a woman who has stopped too close to the rail. He asks her to take a photograph of him and Seo Dan. The request is small. It holds her on the bridge long enough for the moment to pass.

The crossing is 344 metres long and opened in 2012 as a paid link on the Panorama-Rundweg around Lake Thun. Eight francs now. The drama's opening theme is named for this village. Fans still queue at the Sigriswil end and walk the same line she walked, looking for the place where a stranger's camera became a stay of execution.

The mountains do not rearrange themselves for the plot. They sit in the same order they sat the year the cables went up. What you take away is the sound the deck makes under one pair of shoes when the wind comes up the gorge.
