Biography|Sabir Sami — The Exchange Avenue Office Where He First Ran Yum Canada
kevin
People treat his KFC years as a Louisville story that starts in 2021.
The Yum! record starts in this Vaughan employment park in 2009.
KFC's own leadership page says Sami joined Yum! in 2009 and worked all three brands as general manager of Yum! Canada.
A 2001 profile in Pakistan and Gulf Economist already had him running Reckitt Benckiser Pakistan.
The Canada restaurant job was the first posting after those packaged-goods years.
Yum! Restaurants International (Canada) sat at 101 Exchange Avenue, Vaughan, postal code L4K 5R6.
Quebec corporate filings and Canadian business directories list that address for the company through the years he was there.
The lot now answers as 101 Mable Smith Way in the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre and houses the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority.
The street name moved.
The building did not vanish.
In 2013 the Canadian operation left Exchange Avenue for a purpose-built office at 191 Creditview Road in Woodbridge.
Condor Properties handed that building over on 16 September 2013.
Later career summaries date his Canada posting from 2009 to 2013.
He then became general manager for KFC Turkey.
The Creditview building is the later shop.
The first Yum! desk was here, in the low-rise belt south of the towers that now mark the Metropolitan Centre.
From Canada he moved through Turkey, then the Middle East, North Africa, Pakistan, and Turkey region, then the dual job of KFC Division chief operating officer and managing director of KFC Asia.
Louisville named him division chief executive in September 2021, effective 1 January 2022.
That official biography still lists the Canada general-manager years.
A visitor looking for a red KFC sign on Exchange Avenue will not find one.
The pin is the office park that held the company when he crossed from Reckitt into restaurants.
