Biography|Inger Andersen — Born in Jerup Beside This Brick Church

Inger la Cour Andersen was born on 23 May 1958 in Jerup, a fishing and farming village on the Skagen line in northern Jutland.

The village sits about twelve kilometres northwest of Frederikshavn, on Aalbæk Bay, with Kalmer Rimmer and Jerup Hede at its back.

Her parents were Aagot la Cour Andersen and Erik Andersen.

Her grandfather was the Danish historian and archaeologist Vilhelm la Cour.

The public building that still marks the place is Jerup Kirke, at Ved Kirken 8.

Architect F. Uldall designed the red-brick chapel in a simplified Romanesque manner.

It was built in 1888 and 1889 as a filial church of Elling, on a granite plinth with pale banding in the brick.

The bell left the west gable in 1972 after the timber was judged unsafe and now hangs in a frame southwest of the nave.

The house where she was born is not a public site, and this pin stays on the church.

By 1977 she had finished Midtfyns Gymnasium on Funen, a move south that already took her off the Skagen line.

The Danish and English biographical pages, and the village page that lists her among notable people, agree on Jerup and the date.

A visitor finds a working parish church of about 150 seats, not a museum.
