The model is Life Shakujii-koen, an ordinary neighborhood supermarket close to the station. That ordinariness is the point. Automatic doors, shopping baskets, bright aisles, and a list of ingredients become the scenery for Mahiro’s hesitant return to public life. Momiji’s offer to help turns the trip from a private ordeal into the beginning of a friendship, long before Mahiro understands who this brisk, capable new companion really is.
