Episode three lets the red Messe Sanoh V storefront announce 1996 before anyone needs to explain it. New games cover the frontage, titles become public events, and Konoha reads the year through packaging and signs as naturally as someone else might read a calendar. That was the shop’s real power: it turned software culture into a street-facing spectacle, with demonstrations, preorder bonuses, and release-day crowds making private play visible from Chūō-dōri. Messe Sanoh later disappeared into Trader, but the building at 3-14-9 Sotokanda remains. Look up at the present tenants and hold the anime’s red sign over the facade; the address stays fixed while an entire retail language vanishes.
