On October 30, 2022, inside Heidelberg Castle, France’s Alexis “MarineLorD” Eusebio and Greece’s Themistoklis “TheMista” Bonidis met in the Age of Empires IV Grand Final of Red Bull Wololo: Legacy. The match closed the game’s October 26–30 LAN competition, not an online qualifier or a studio segment pinned to an advertised city. Red Bull organized the third-party event, while the official Age of Empires site announced the castle main event and Xbox published its results, making it publisher-promoted rather than a community-only bracket. Age of Empires IV remained a separate discipline from the simultaneous Age of Empires I: Definitive Edition and Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition competitions. The players used the Windows PC edition during the public Season Three Build 24916 window: Microsoft released that build on October 25 for the Microsoft Store, Steam, and Xbox app, one day before the AoE IV main event began. Event records show the newly released Ottoman and Malian civilizations in use, so the earlier Build 23349 is excluded; no undisclosed private build or storefront is assigned. Sixteen players began in two groups, with best-of-three series feeding an eight-player single-elimination playoff; MarineLorD lost his opening group match before advancing through the lower side and then defeating Beastyqt in the semifinal. TheMista advanced through the other semifinal, setting a best-of-seven championship series. [Tournament format and bracket](https://liquipedia.net/ageofempires/Red_Bull_Wololo_Legacy/2022/AoE4)
A best-of-seven is scored in games, not kills, resources, or elapsed time: the first player to four game victories wins the series. Each game begins with a new civilization and map setup, and victory comes from an allowed in-game condition or the opponent’s concession rather than carrying a numerical score between games.
MarineLorD won all four games, ending the final 4–0 and taking the first Age of Empires IV title awarded at a Red Bull Wololo main event. Red Bull’s account and an independent esports report agree on the sweep, while Xbox’s recap preserves both competitors’ legal names. The castle is the evidentiary anchor: it was the disclosed place where these game results were produced, even though other Wololo editions and other Age titles also used Heidelberg. The cover is a 2019 exterior view from the Neckar and documents the venue, not the match.
