Queen of Tears | Aqua Planet Ilsan — The Proposal, Three Years Late

Episode eight. Baek Hyun-woo gets down on one knee in front of a wall of water, and the proposal that should have happened years earlier finally does — in a marriage that is already three years old and coming apart.

The tank is at Aqua Planet Ilsan, in Goyang's Hallyu World district. It is the largest aquarium in the capital region and one of only two places in Korea where you can see walruses. There is more to it than fish: an Amazon section with land animals, and a rooftop farm where you can feed goats and sheep, which is not what anyone expects from a proposal location.

Open ten to six daily. Tickets run around 33,000 won and there is no child discount, so a family visit adds up fast — book online, where it is meaningfully cheaper than at the door. Weekdays are genuinely quiet; visitors describe having whole galleries to themselves. The subway drops you within an easy walk.

If you have come specifically for the scene, be aware that it is larger inside than the sequence suggests and the main tank is one of many. Give it two hours rather than treating it as a photo stop.

Stand in front of the main tank when the rays are being fed and the light is moving on the floor. The drama's proposal works because it is out of order — the gesture arriving long after the marriage, in a room where nothing is where it should be either, and everything is behind glass.
