Biography|Ugur Sahin — The Cologne Clinics Where He Took a Doctorate in Tumor Immunotherapy

The University of Cologne's medical faculty and its hospital sit on Kerpener Straße in Lindenthal, a short tram ride from the Niehl school.

Şahin studied human medicine there from 1984.

In 1992 he received his doctorate with the mark summa cum laude.

The thesis, supervised by Michael Pfreundschuh, treated immunotherapy of tumor cells.

The specific method was bispecific monoclonal antibodies used to activate cytostatic precursors at the tumor.

That problem is not a later brand story.

It is the same question he is still working on.

Munzinger records the practical year, 1991 to 1992, as split between the Cologne university clinics and Homburg an der Saar.

Pfreundschuh was already moving the group to Saarland.

The student followed the supervisor.

Cologne is where the credentials were signed.

The faculty has been rebuilt in pieces since the early 1990s.

By twenty-seven he was already a physician whose published problem was how to make an immune attack land on a cancer cell and spare the rest.

Everything after this street is an attempt to industrialize that sentence.
