People treat founder-CEOs as permanent fixtures on the 10-K cover. On 31 January 2024 the cover changed.
SEC filings through that winter still listed the corporate office as 350 East Plumeria Drive, San Jose, California 95134. OpenStreetMap labels the building Netgear HQ.
On 26 January Lo told the board he would retire as chief executive and chairman when a successor started. The board named Charles (CJ) Prober CEO effective 31 January 2024 and seated him as a director the same day.
A company 8-K and a Business Wire release dated San Jose made the change public that afternoon. Lo agreed to stay as a strategic advisor through 31 July 2024.
He had run the company from the Bay Networks subsidiary of 1996 through the 2003 IPO and twenty-one further years as chief executive. Prober came from Tile and Life360, not from the original router bench.
The investor-relations page later moved the published street address to 3553 North First Street, still in the same North San Jose cluster. The Plumeria pin is the roof on the form that recorded the handoff.
The building is an ordinary office. The moment is the date the founder stopped signing as chief executive.
