Biography | Matthew Bromberg — The Third Street Headquarters on the Day He Became Unity CEO
kevin
On 15 May 2024 Matthew S. Bromberg became president and chief executive of Unity Software.
The company's own 8-K, filed on 1 May after the board vote, set that Tuesday as the effective date and added him to the board as a Class III director.
He was 57.
Unity's principal executive office in that filing was 30 Third Street, San Francisco, a five-story 1910 building of about 53,000 square feet on the Yerba Buena edge of SoMa.
The pin is that address as it stood on the day the job started, not a later lease.
By 2025 the company had signed a smaller floor at 116 New Montgomery and let the Third Street lease run toward expiry.
A visitor today will not find a corporate campus at number 30.
What happened on 15 May is the public fact: a game-engine company, listed on the New York Stock Exchange as U, handed the chair to a former Zynga chief operating officer and former Major League Gaming chief executive.
Jim Whitehurst had been sitting in the role on an interim basis after the previous chief executive left.
Bromberg came from two years as a senior advisor at Blackstone, with board seats at Bumble, Monzo, and Blast on the public record.
The 8-K is the primary source for the date, the age, the schools, and the prior jobs.
GamesBeat and the trade press repeated the same announcement the next day.
This memory does not follow him home and does not describe a current office routine.
It marks the Tuesday a widely documented appointment took effect at a public company's then headquarters.
Unity still makes the tools used to build real-time 2D and 3D work for phones, consoles, and headsets.
The building on Third Street is where that company said it lived when the new chief executive's name went on the door.
