Biography|Jim Ratcliffe — Old Trafford on the Day the 27.7 Percent Stake Cleared

On 20 February 2024 Manchester United announced that Sir Jim Ratcliffe had completed his acquisition of 27.7 percent of the club.
The club's own statement said the deal had cleared the remaining conditions, including the Football Association and the Premier League.
Reuters, writing from Manchester that night, put the share purchase at 1.25 billion dollars, with further money pledged for infrastructure and with sporting operations moving under his control.
The pin is the stadium, not a private office. Old Trafford on Sir Matt Busby Way is where the club lives, and where the change of control became a public fact.
Ratcliffe was born four miles up the road in Failsworth. British coverage treated the purchase as a local return.
The legal event was a New York-listed share deal that happened to land on a ground in Trafford.
The Glazer family remained majority owners. What changed on that Tuesday was the minority block and the football-side mandate, after more than a year of sale talk that had begun when the Glazers opened a process in November 2022.
A Christmas Eve 2023 club announcement had sketched a 25 percent stake. By completion the figure on the club channel was 27.7 percent.
Use the completion number. The earlier term sheet is the draft.
The East Stand still faces Sir Matt Busby Way. A visitor does not need a tour ticket to read the geography: the ground, the tram, the industrial estate, and a chemicals chairman who now owns more than a quarter of the shares.
This is not a home address and not a workplace routine. It is the public stadium attached to a completed filing.
