Biography|Cristiano Amon — The CES Keynote in the Palazzo Ballroom

On 10 January 2024 Cristiano Amon stood in the Palazzo Ballroom at the Venetian in Las Vegas and gave Qualcomm's CES keynote.

The Consumer Technology Association had announced the booking the previous November.

The slot was 2 p.m. Pacific Time on Wednesday of CES week, with Liz Claman of FOX Business as the on-stage partner.

The subject was how people would talk to devices once generative AI ran on the handset itself, not only in a distant data centre.

The Palazzo Ballroom occupies Level 5 of the convention block attached to the Venetian and Palazzo towers at 3325 South Las Vegas Boulevard.

It is a column-free room of about 75,500 square feet, built for trade-show keynotes rather than for chip design.

Amon had been Qualcomm's chief executive since 30 June 2021. This was a public hour on a rented stage, not a day at the San Diego campus.

The pin is the convention hall that hosted the keynote, not a private residence and not Morehouse Drive.

Ten months later he would give another public keynote at Web Summit in Lisbon's MEO Arena.

The two rooms sit on different continents. The argument was the same: the radio and the processor now share a sentence with the model.
