Meteor Garden | Administration Building — Hua Ze Lei’s Quiet Roof

The Administration Building rises in layered concrete and glass at the center of the campus. Its upper levels catch the light differently from the rest of National Chung Cheng University.

Here the drama placed Hua Ze Lei on the roof when the world below became too loud. The real structure still feels slightly removed from the daily flow of students. From certain angles the plaza and fountain below open like a stage, the same open space where graduation scenes and group confrontations once unfolded.

Walk the surrounding paths and the building keeps its distance. It does not invite you inside easily. That distance is part of what the series captured. Lei needed a place that was still part of the school yet slightly above it. The architecture provides that without trying.

Today the plaza remains a natural gathering point. People pause, photograph the fountain, then move on. The roof itself stays private. The feeling of looking down from a quiet height, however, is still available to anyone who stands in the right spot and looks up.
