Goblin | Deoksugung Stonewall Walkway — Leaves Against a Palace Wall

Jeongdong-gil runs along the outer wall of Deoksugung for about nine hundred metres. Ginkgo and zelkova lean over the stone. City Hall is one subway exit away. The path is free and open at night.

Goblin used this wall the way a lot of Seoul dramas do: two people walking, talking, and not quite touching. Kim Shin and Ji Eun-tak pass under the same trees that fill the pavement with yellow in late October. The palace on the other side of the wall is the last seat of the Korean Empire. The walkway is the part the cameras actually needed.

There is an old city story that couples who finish the loop will split. Historians point at a plainer cause. For decades the Family Court sat at the far end of the wall, so the people you saw here were often on their way to file papers. The court moved. The story stayed. The drama ignored it.

VisitKorea lists the path as a Hallyu stop. You walk it without a ticket. The palace itself takes a separate admission and closes on Mondays. Stay on the outside if you came for the scene. The leaves do the rest of the work.
