Atami Station is where the road stops being a chase and becomes a way home. The film’s return has the relief of a family that has survived everything absurd enough to be funny and exhausting enough to feel earned. The old station scenery has changed since 2003, but the role of the place has not: luggage, signs, ticket gates, and the sudden practical question of getting back to the house where dinner is still the point. The station gives the story its last grounded object. Not victory, not glory, just the train home and the meal waiting there.
