Baegun Market is a working alley market in Ssangmun 1-dong, a few minutes from Line 4. Tarps, ice, the smell of dried pollack. Residents shop here because it is closer than a supermarket, not because a camera once passed through.
In Squid Game this street is the ground under Cho Sang-woo. His mother keeps a fish stall inside the market. Gi-hun comes for coffee and a cigarette with the boy from the same neighborhood who made it out, then did not. The series never dresses the stalls. It lets the fluorescent tubes and the wet concrete do the talking.
