Biography|Melker Schörling — MSAB Leaves the Family Desk for First North

Melker Schörling AB took a First North listing on 5 September 2006 at 93.19 kronor a share.

On 6 December 2006 the same stock moved to the Nordic list, large-cap section, of what is now Nasdaq Stockholm.

The Swedish Tax Agency preserves both dates.

The company's 2006 annual report called it the year a twenty-year family vehicle became a public company.

Schörling had registered MSAB in 1998, the year after he left Skanska's chief-executive job, to hold Securitas, Hexagon and the rest as an owner rather than as staff.

The office associated with that vehicle today is Birger Jarlsgatan 13, four flights up, in Norrmalm.

It is a working address for a handful of people, not a trading floor.

The 2006 board he unveiled was a Swedish business roll-call: Stefan Persson, Carl-Henric Svanberg, and his daughter among them.

Eleven years later he left every chair, citing health.

In 2017–18 the family, with Stefan Persson and others, took MSAB private again.

The Tax Agency records the delisting on 19 January 2018 at a last price of 569.50 kronor.

He died on 8 December 2023 at Edeby, a historic manor in Nyköping Municipality that he had owned since 1992.

That house remains a private residence, so this street — the public office of the firm that carried his name — is the last pin that can be published without sending strangers to a door.

The daughters Sofia Schörling Högberg and Märta still run the group under the shorter name Schörling.
