Fate/strange Fake | Saint Andrew Church — Hansa’s Stone Sanctuary

Hansa Cervantes works from the Holy Church’s side of the war, carrying faith, bureaucracy, and a body rebuilt for violence into the same room. Episode 8 anchors that contradiction in Saint Andrew Church in Pasadena. Its campanile and patterned brick rise with ceremonial calm while the people associated with it prepare for threats no ordinary parish could name.

The real church is richly composed, but the anime’s use of it is not simply decorative. Hansa’s world depends on old forms that have learned to survive modern danger. The building does too: a 1920s sanctuary holding Byzantine and Romanesque references in the middle of a working California city.

From Raymond Avenue, the bell tower is the first element to command attention. Then traffic, wires, and neighboring buildings return to the frame. That coexistence—sacred silhouette, ordinary street—is exactly where Hansa feels at home.
