NRG had beaten Vitality 3–2 in Group A and Spacestation Gaming 4–1 in the semifinal, while Vitality reached the rematch by defeating Dignitas 4–3. The final moved back and forth across seven games: NRG won 4–1, 2–1, 1–0, and 2–1, while Vitality took its games 1–0, 4–3, and 3–2. That left the series tied 3–3 before Game 7 on Champions Field, where NRG and Vitality finished regulation level at one goal apiece.
