After visiting the BE KOBE sign and reflecting at Meriken Park, I continued my walk along the scenic waterfront and found myself at the lively Kobe Bay Cruise area. This part of the harbor is where leisure meets maritime heritage—a charming stretch filled with sightseeing vessels, gentle ocean winds, and panoramic views of the Kobe skyline.
Here, visitors can embark on short cruises that sail around Kobe Bay, offering beautiful perspectives of the city, the Akashi Kaikyō Bridge, and the surrounding mountains. The atmosphere was relaxed yet vibrant, with couples, families, and tourists milling about, snapping photos and waiting to board the next boat.
One standout was the colorful and modern Boh Boh KOBE, a cheerful sightseeing cruise boat designed with fun in mind. It features playful exterior art, spacious open decks, and indoor seating that’s perfect for soaking up the views. The cruise typically lasts 40 to 45 minutes, making it a perfect way to unwind and take in the sea breeze while gliding past Kobe's port landmarks.
Right nearby, I also noticed an elegant replica of a classic sailing vessel, reminiscent of old European galleons. With its tall masts, decorative rigging, and wooden trim, it adds a nostalgic flair to the harbor—like stepping back into a more romantic, maritime era. These replica ships are also part of Kobe’s sightseeing cruises, offering themed journeys with a historical touch, especially popular at sunset.
The area around the cruise terminal was lively, with souvenir shops, cafés, and soft music drifting from open boat decks. As the sun began to lower in the sky, the waters of the bay shimmered, and the city’s skyline started to glow with warm light. It was peaceful yet full of life—a perfect representation of Kobe’s harmony between modern design and historical charm.
