South Beach Triathlon

It was hectic and it was early....  about 4:57 am on a Sunday morning.   Found myself wandering through the bloxs from Collins Avenue to Ocean Drive toward Lummus Park.  The party-goers were still stumbling around from the previous night as I briskly strolled by.  Wanted to get to the check-in booth before it got busy.  Got there with plenty of time to spare.  Enjoyed the opportunity to reflect on the race before all the madness.  It was my first Triathlon and sort of knew what to expect but not really.   Thinking about what was to come made the time pass faster.  Around 7:30 AM, with the sunrise over the horizon,  I was off to the races.  First in the ocean, then on the bike, and finally on my feet.  The race lasted for a while.  But in the end, as I reflect back, the "why" that kept me going when tired, physically exhausted, and mentally challenged was the simple thought of... hugging my two boys once all was said and done.  Thank you, Lucas and Tomas.
