Finally, first skiing in the States in 2025

In early 2025, I embarked on my inaugural skiing adventure in the United States at Mt. Ashland Ski Area in Oregon. Nestled atop the Siskiyou Crest, Mt. Ashland boasts a peak elevation of 7,533 feet and over 200 acres of skiable terrain.

The 2024/25 season was particularly special for Mt. Ashland, as they introduced the Lithia Chairlift, the first new chairlift in over 30 years. This addition revived the upper beginner terrain, enhancing the experience for novices like myself.

During my visit, the mountain was abuzz with activity, hosting the Oregon High School Alpine Ski Racing State Championships. Over 350 young athletes from across the state showcased their skills, adding a vibrant energy to the slopes.

Despite the bustling environment, I found solace on the beginner-friendly trails. The freshly fallen snow, a result of a bountiful November, provided excellent conditions for skiing. The staff's warmth and the community's passion for the sport made my first U.S. skiing experience truly memorable.

Reflecting on that day, I remember the thrill of gliding down the slopes, the crisp mountain air, and the camaraderie shared with fellow skiers. It was a perfect introduction to skiing in the States, leaving me eager for future alpine adventures.
