Our Song

Let’s write a song, 
About you and me
About what makes us, us 
I’ll start with the first line
And you write the next. 

There will be times 
When I’ll fumble 
(But of course)
And you’ll hold my hand
For it’s not always easy 
To find the right words. 

Then again, there might be times 
When you might not want to 
Keep writing our song with me 
(But of course)
I am, after all, not easy to be with 
I’ll tell you it’s just this time,
This moment, this day 
Tomorrow will be different 
I promise. 

When we are done, 
I’ll sing the melody 
And you’ll sing the harmony 
It’ll be our song
Sloppy. With no rhyme. 
Wordy. With too many at a time. 
Nonsensical. For when has love made sense. 
But it will be ours. 
And we’ll sing it till the end. 

Only then we’ll realise 
That there are more lines to add
So much more to say 
With every passing day. 
So you and I
Will keep writing our song. 
Never ending.
