This morning, I set out early for a day of exploration at Himeji Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage site renowned for its stunning white facade and rich history. I caught a JR Shinkansen from Motomachi Station, eager for the journey ahead. As the train sped westward, I enjoyed scenic views of the Japanese countryside, passing through the rural landscapes of Akashi and Harima, with their patchwork fields and quiet towns.

One highlight along the route was catching a glimpse of the magnificent Akashi Kaikyō Bridge, often referred to as the Awaji Bridge. This engineering marvel is the world’s longest suspension bridge, stretching nearly four kilometers across the Akashi Strait to connect the city of Kobe with Awaji Island. Its graceful towers and sweeping cables are a testament to modern Japanese ingenuity and offer a striking contrast to the tranquil rural scenery.

With these memorable sights passing by my window, my anticipation grew for the adventure awaiting me at Himeji Castle.
