On July 13, 2024, former President Donald Trump was shot and wounded during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The assailant, Thomas Matthew Crooks, fired eight rounds with an AR-15-style rifle from the roof of a building about 400 feet away from the stage. Trump sustained a minor injury to his right ear, while an audience member, Corey Comperatore, was killed, and two others were critically injured. The shooter was subsequently shot and killed by the Secret Service's counter-sniper team (Wikipedia) (GB News).
