Assassination of President John F. Kennedy

President John F. Kennedy, the 35th President of the United States, was assassinated on November 22, 1963, while riding in a motorcade through Dealey Plaza in Dallas, Texas. As the presidential limousine passed the Texas School Book Depository, shots rang out, and Kennedy was struck by two bullets, one in the neck and one in the head. The motorcade rushed to Parkland Memorial Hospital, but Kennedy was pronounced dead at 1:00 PM CST. The nation was stunned by the loss, and Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson was sworn in as president aboard Air Force One shortly after.

The assassination led to a massive investigation by the Warren Commission, which concluded that Lee Harvey Oswald, an employee at the Texas School Book Depository, acted alone in killing Kennedy. Oswald was captured later that day but was killed two days later by nightclub owner Jack Ruby, adding to the intrigue and spawning numerous conspiracy theories. The assassination of Kennedy left a profound impact on the nation and the world, marking a pivotal moment in American history and leading to significant political and cultural changes.
