My uncle recommended stopping by the iconic Cantonese pastry shop, Tong Heng—a heritage gem established in 1935—to pick up their famed egg tarts. We then savored the flaky, custard-filled treats alongside rich local coffee at Maxi Coffee Bar, soaking in the bustling atmosphere. As we wandered further, I captured countless photos of the colorful, retro shophouses lining the streets, their facades echoing Singapore’s storied past. By chance, our stroll led us to the tranquil oasis of Ann Siang Hill Park, where lush greenery and quiet pathways offered a peaceful contrast to the vibrant energy of Chinatown.
