"Born in the small village of Cuiheng, Guangdong Province, Sun Yat-sen's early years in the late 1860s were quite humble. His father, a farmer and tailor, provided a simple life for the family. This modest beginning laid the groundwork for Sun's empathetic understanding of the common people, a trait that would become crucial in his later quests for change. His family village was so poor that his father's three brothers couldn't support themselves as farmers and decided to venture overseas, resulting in two of them dying on their journeys."

This is the birthplace of Sun Yat-sen — a small peasant village in Guangdong Province where one of history's most consequential revolutionaries was born on November 12, 1866. His father was a farmer and tailor who provided a humble life. The family was so poor that his father's three brothers ventured overseas seeking better livelihoods — two of them dying on their journeys. Here, young Sun forged his first critical alliance with childhood friend Lu Haodong, who would later sacrifice his life for their shared revolutionary cause.
